What We Do

Eyes in the Sky When It Matters Most

When a tornado, flood, hurricane, or industrial incident strikes, ground teams face dangerous, slow, and incomplete situational awareness. Alabama Drone Pros deploys FAA Part 107 certified pilots nationwide with thermal and high-resolution visual platforms to give emergency managers real-time aerial intelligence — fast. We support FEMA operations, county emergency management agencies, utility companies, and private relief organizations.

  • ▸Assists with evacuation route planning

Why Aerial Matters in Disasters

Ground Teams Can't See What Drones Can

After a major weather event, roads are blocked, bridges are out, and ground teams can only cover a fraction of the affected area. A drone can survey miles of damage in minutes, giving commanders a complete picture before a single boot hits the ground.

Thermal imaging identifies survivors in rubble, detects gas leaks and hot spots in fire-damaged structures, and locates stranded individuals in flooded areas — capabilities that are simply impossible from the ground at night or in low-visibility conditions.

Accurate, GPS-tagged damage documentation is critical for FEMA reimbursement, insurance claims, and infrastructure repair prioritization. Our deliverables are formatted to support official damage assessment workflows.

Aerial Capabilities

What We Bring to the Field

Damage Assessment Surveys

Systematic aerial documentation of structural damage, flooding extent, road conditions, and infrastructure status for official reporting.

Thermal Survivor Detection

Infrared thermal imaging to detect body heat signatures in rubble, collapsed structures, and flooded terrain — day or night.

Flood Mapping & Water Extent

Real-time aerial mapping of flood boundaries, water depth indicators, and safe evacuation corridors for emergency managers.

Wildfire Perimeter Monitoring

Aerial tracking of active fire lines, hot spots, and smoke plumes to support firefighting strategy and evacuation decisions.

Utility Infrastructure Inspection

Rapid aerial inspection of power lines, substations, cell towers, and pipelines for damage assessment and repair prioritization.

Live Command Post Feed

Real-time video streamed directly to the command post or EOC, giving decision-makers eyes on the situation without leaving the command center.

Command Integration

Tornado Damage Assessment

Post-Tornado Structural Survey — Central US

Deployed within hours of a tornado touchdown to document structural damage across a residential area. Provided GPS-tagged imagery of every affected structure to support county emergency management's FEMA damage assessment submission.

Deliverables: GPS-tagged photo report, damage classification map, video documentation

Outcome: County submitted FEMA Individual Assistance request within 24 hours of the event

Flood Reconnaissance

River Flood Extent Mapping — Nationwide

Aerial mapping of flood boundaries following heavy rainfall and river overflow. Identified submerged road sections and safe evacuation routes, relayed in real time to county emergency management.

Deliverables: Flood extent map, road condition report, live video feed to EOC

Outcome: Evacuation routes confirmed and communicated to residents within 2 hours of deployment

Utility Damage Assessment

Power Line Inspection — Post-Storm

Rapid aerial inspection of downed power lines and damaged substations following a severe thunderstorm. Prioritized repair crews to the most critical infrastructure failures first.

Deliverables: Damage priority map, GPS coordinates of all failures, photo documentation

Outcome: Repair crews dispatched in priority order; restoration time reduced significantly

Wildfire Support

Fire Perimeter Monitoring — Nationwide

Thermal and visual aerial monitoring of an active wildfire perimeter, tracking fire line movement and identifying hot spots invisible from the ground.

Deliverables: Thermal fire perimeter map, hot spot GPS coordinates, live feed to incident command

Outcome: Fire line movement detected early; evacuation order issued before fire reached residential area

Common Questions

Disaster Response FAQ

How quickly can you deploy after a disaster event?

We mobilize immediately upon request. Deployment time depends on your location and the nearest available pilot in our network. For agencies with pre-arranged agreements, we can provide committed response time windows.

Do you coordinate with FEMA and county emergency management?

Yes — we are familiar with ICS/NIMS command structures and integrate as a supporting asset under the Incident Commander's direction. Our deliverables are formatted to support FEMA damage assessment documentation.

Can you operate in active disaster conditions — rain, smoke, debris?

We operate in a wide range of post-disaster conditions. Heavy rain and high winds above safe operating limits will ground us temporarily, but we resume as soon as conditions allow. Smoke, dust, and debris fields are manageable with our platform.

Do you require FAA authorization for disaster operations?

We hold FAA Part 107 certification and night operations authorization. For operations in Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) established over disaster areas, we coordinate directly with FAA and the controlling agency to obtain authorization.

Can you provide a live video feed to our EOC?

Yes — we can stream live thermal and visual video to a ground station at your Emergency Operations Center or command post, giving decision-makers real-time aerial situational awareness.

Do you work with private organizations and insurance companies?

Yes — in addition to government emergency management agencies, we work with private relief organizations, utility companies, insurance adjusters, and property owners needing post-disaster damage documentation.
